Think modern dance is all about blank-faced attitude and black leotards? Danceworks Performance Co. begs to differ. Always in search of a theatrical edge, DPC collaborated with the Show, a comedy improv group. In this installment of “Plugged In,” the DPC performance space transforms into a neighborhood bar, which is hosting a has-been ’80s rock star, complete with Robert Palmer-esque backup dancers. It should be no surprise that comedian/songwriter Jason Powell is in on the action. Also plugging in is Joelle Worm, who is collaborating with DJs to create improvised dances paired with live scratching and spinning.
