“Plugged In” at Danceworks Performance Company

Think modern dance is all about blank-faced attitude and black leotards? Danceworks Performance Co. begs to differ. Always in search of a theatrical edge, DPC collaborated with the Show, a comedy improv group. In this installment of “Plugged In,” the DPC performance space transforms into a neighborhood bar, which is hosting a has-been ’80s rock star, complete with Robert Palmer-esque backup dancers. It should be no surprise that comedian/songwriter Jason Powell is in on the action. Also plugging in is Joelle Worm, who is collaborating with DJs to create improvised dances paired with live scratching and spinning.

“Plugged In” (April 24-May 10). Danceworks Performance Company. Danceworks Studio Theatre. 1661 N. Water St., 414-277-8480, danceworksmke.org.
