Back in October, we decided to hold a fun community competition dubbed "The Style Games". The rules were one model, one salon, one boutique and one photographer put their best feet forward in producing one amazing photograph depicting their skills. After nearly 8,000 votes, an Editor's Choice win was handed out, as well as a People's Choice. Want to know a little more about these style leaders? First up, Editors Choice!
GG Collections Boutique and NNI Salon and Spa
Photographer: Scott Detweiler. Model: Heather Stern. Hair & Makeup: Valbona Zejneli.
How did this team come up with the winning look? Both photographer Scott Detweiler and hair stylist Valbona Zejneli came up with the winning idea once they saw the dress at GG Collections Boutique on North Broadway.
They wanted their finished photo to be glamorous and surreal, so using yards of tulle they created lots of volume. When not in the studio, photographer Scott Detweiler can be found working full time at his design firm on software. Because Scott uses Photoshop all day, this allowed him to hone in on his skills and create images that stand out from others in post production. With a team of stylists, Scott has been able to submit many of his photos to various publications to see where the images take them.
Hair and makeup artist Valbona Zejneli has worked at NNI Salon and Spa for the past 5 years, and couldn't be happier about it. In the future, Valbona hopes to own her own salon and is working hard to achieve this goal. Scott plans to become more involved with fashion photography while pushing the elements of design with his photo editing skills. He challenges anyone to bring on the crazy ideas.

People's Choice DG Boutique and Accessories and The Regency Institute
Photographer: Cory Albrechtson. Model: Sue Keup. Hair & Makeup: Emmy Mignonne
We loved the Mad Hatter feel of the winning People's Choice photo.
Diana Gamboa is the mastermind behind the wardrobe in this photo, and she wanted the overall look to be very 1940's-inspired with a modern twist. Hair stylist Emmy Mignonne worked closely with Diana to bring the entire look to life by complimenting the hair and makeup with the wardrobe.
Photographer Cory Albrechtson saw the concept for the wardrobe and hair, and wanted to keep everything else in the photo very white and textured, allowing the eye to focus on the model without distraction. Diana Gamboa is currently going to beauty school for hair and makeup, and designs clothing and accessories for DG Boutique. Her hope is to travel the world and show what she is capable of with her designs. Hair stylist Emmy Mignonne has just graduated from beauty school, and is searching for the perfect salon at which she can keep perfecting her winning looks.
Emmy hopes to bring her styling skills in to theatrical plays, as well as using her skills for charity functions to help other feel better about their image. Photographer Cory Albrechtson is a full time senior photographer at Direct Supply in Milwaukee and loves it.
We enjoyed all the talented teams that played in the 2012 Style Games, and look forward to next year's games. Will YOU play?
