88Nine Moves to Fifth Ward
And they're bringing a Stone Creek Coffee location with them.
The community-funded radio station 88Nine RadioMilwaukee will move its offices and studio to a two-story, 14,000-square-foot building in the Fifth Ward (158 S. Barclay St.) later this year. The space, which had been vacant for a few years, will be renovated to include a 100-seat recording studio.
According to a statement, the station's Executive Director, Mary Louise Mussoline, says that the recording studio will be visible from the street to allow onlookers a peek at performances. It's also large enough that 88Nine will be able to host community discussions, performances by full bands, and live interviews with the musicians.
The space will also include a new Stone Creek Coffee location where every cup of coffee will be made to order, courtesy of its "100% manual brew bar store." This location will be the 10-year-old roaster and cafe chain's tenth location.
