What started as a phoenix rising from the ashes of Grammy-winning Nickel Creek has taken on a life of its own. Punch Brothers is grounded in classic bluegrass – with mandolin maestro and 2012 MacArthur Genius awardee Chris Thile as its core – but don’t pigeonhole this New York City-based quintet. Its most recent album, Who’s Feeling Young Now?, was created with decorated producer Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, Norah Jones) and includes a curious cover of Radiohead’s “Kid A.” But there’s plenty of twang to be had.
