Some people will never
understand the sport of shopping a good sale, or the rush caused by
scoring a great deal. For those who do, rev up your competitive spirits for some
good old-fashioned bargain hunting this weekend in Shorewood.
SHOP
is hosting the 5th annual Boutique
Blowout sale this Saturday, Feb. 2, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Atwater
Elementary School (2100 E. Capitol Drive). There will be more than a dozen area
retailers with merchandise marked down 50-90 percent for this one-day event.
I talk to Liz Sumner, owner of SHOP in Shorewood to get the
scoop. “It’s a great way to find deeply discounted designer merchandise for
shoppers and an easy way for boutique owners to clear out their stores quickly
to make way for new clothing,” she says.
Participating boutiques include: Bijoux, Boutique B’Lou,
Faye’s, Five Hearts, MaJolie, Min’s, Molloy’s, Motherlode, Patricia Shoppe, SHOP, Salamander,
Swanky Seconds and Stephanie Horne.
“Swanky Seconds in a new addition this year - the first time
a consignment store has participated in Boutique Blowout,” Liz says, adding, “although there will be some items for men and children, this event is mostly
for women.”
For more information and to RSVP, check out the Facebook event. (This will also give you a chance to size up your competition.)
And be sure to bring
plenty of cash because not all vendors accept credit cards. There is a $5
admission fee at the door that will be donated to Round for Recreation,
which allows Shorewood Recreation Department to make their programs available to low-income
families.
