For the sixth straight year, the Milwaukee Admirals are kicking off Veterans Day early – or should we say – facing off. The team is offering all veterans and active military personnel free tickets to tonight’s game against the Chicago Wolves. The live puck drops at 7 p.m., but get there early to see WWII Air Force veteran George Michel drop the ceremonial puck with the captains of each team. During the second period, the Admirals will also honor hometown hero and decorated Army Master Sergeant Matt Curler. Curler has received four Army Commendation Medals for sustained acts of heroism or meritorious service in two combat tours in Iraq (2004 and 2009).
Naval officers, don’t feel left out. The team is named after your highest set of ranks. So for fans of both heroes and hockey, this is a rare opportunity to see admirals in the stands watching the Admirals on ice. To obtain your free ticket, bring your military ID, VFW card or a copy of your DD214 papers to the BMO Harris Bradley Center box office window.
