Is it fitting that a chocolate boutique opens on Election Day? I think so. Tuesday Nov. 6 was D-Day for Indulgence Chocolatiers’ first shop (in Shorewood's Ravenna apartment development), another element in the bonanza of retail, dining and drinking activity on Oakland-at-Kensington. Owner Julie Waterman is celebrating the opening with in-store samples – of champagne truffles, cranberry pumpkin seed bars and other seasonal chocolates. Everything you’d normally order from the Indulgence website is available at the shop: truffles in 24 flavors, toffees, s’mores kits, and the newest item – hot cocoa mix. The mix comes in three flavors – salty caramel, Mayan spice, and vanilla bean. In January, Waterman plans to start tasting classes at the shop. To find out when, subscribe to the IC newsletter. At Le Reve Patisserie and Café, “canard” is “duck,” “crepe” is a thin pancake, and “crevettes” are shrimp. The Tosa French also has a new homme in its kitchen – chef de cuisine Patrick Murphy (an alum of Coquette Café and the former Harlequin Bake Shop). The MATC grad is at work on a new dinner menu. It is that time of year. After all, what doesn't a hearty winter dish do for the soul?
