Upon entering the new JB's On 41 (4040 S. 27th St.) you smell the new wood lanes, hear the clacking of balls hitting pins and see flashing lights from the arcade. But don’t just take my word for it, see for yourself:
Olympic Lanes has undergone a serious renovation with 35 all new lanes, an updated lounge, bar and grill, and arcade games. It has probably been close to a decade since I’ve bowled, but two things sold me on the galactic bowling right away: early 90s dance music and a fog machine. JB’s is a beautiful, modern facility, but strangely nostalgic at the same time. My inner-child was screaming to get out so I let her loose at both the bowling lanes and the arcade.
The Junction Bar and Grill’s food is definitely a notch higher than regular bar food and they have a full range of craft beer on tap. I tasted the homemade Margherita pizza and it was honestly one of the best pies I’ve had in a while. This is truly not your dad’s bowling alley.
JB’s will host its Strikes for Tikes event this weekend for the official grand opening. For all strikes scored between Thursday, Nov. 29 and Saturday, Dec. 1, JB’s will make a contribution to the Toys for Tots program this holiday season. Maybe you’ll never score a strike but still want to help – guests can bring new or lightly used toys to receive a discount coupon good throughout the holiday season.
There will be activities a’plenty and giveaways the entire weekend, including a Family Fun Day on Saturday. Click here for a full schedule of fun.
