An out-of-commission Clutch, and the search for a new owner.

Clutch Less
is closed. Clutch? In the former location of La Piazza. La Piazza? Clutch, residing for the last six months or so in ill-fated 1504 E. North Ave., delivered drinks, tapas and “a social experience Milwaukee has been waiting for,” according to the website. Apparently not, as of a few weekends ago. The future of the metal-endowed digs is, at this time, a mystery.

Looking for Mr. (or Ms.) Clean
Quiz time, people. What type of eating puts the kibosh on hydrogenated oils and animal fats, manufactured sugars  and high-calorie, high-fat foods? That would be “clean” eating. That very approach is practiced at Brookfield’s Café One24 (3705 N. 124th St., Suite 400, 262-781-1662), whose menu uses ingredients from local businesses like Growing Power and Cybros Sprouted Bakehouse. But the restaurant of close to a year is now on the sales block. Owner Renee Schecterle says she and her husband Brian (who co-owns the nearby Culver’s Frozen Custard franchise) are looking for a chef-owner who “has the same clean-eating goals.” Until they’ve found that individual, they say they plan to continue operating Café One24.

Cafe One24 is awesome; great service, excellent food, nice atomosphere. I was skeptical about a place in a strip mall, but it far exceeded my expectations.
