So now you’ve had time to remove “8-twelve” from your vernacular. More details have emerged about the SURG-owned restaurant replacing it: HŌM Wood Fired Grill. While some “tweaks” are being made to the Brookfield restaurant's interior, the menu rolls out Wednesday, Oct. 9. Executive chef Andrew Miller (also 8-twelve’s head chef) is making generous use of the wood-fired oven. His entrees include wood-grilled venison with house-made sauerkraut-potato pancake; wood-grilled Strauss lamb chops with chestnut lavender puree and chanterelle mushrooms; and (again, wood-grilled) Viking Village scallops with grilled local corn and warm Israeli couscous-basil salad. ($17-$28). The steaks (filet mignon, rib eye) are wood-grilled, as well. Appetizers range from mac and cheese risotto to bacon and waffles ($7-$15). The menu at HŌM – rhymes with "Home" – also has house-smoked beef brisket ($22), and a wood-grilled burger ($12).
