A new cookbook from a local blogger shows how easy canning and fermenting foods can be.

Food blogger Rebecca Gagnon – whose “Becky Home Ecky” column once brightened our website, milwaukeemag.com – is now a cookbook author. Gagnon recently released The Little Book of Home Preserving, a cute little spiral-bound volume that contains more than 40 recipes capturing the seasons in a jar or bottle. Among the recipes: candied jalapenos, elderberry drinking vinegar, strawberry guajillo jam with orange, figgy conserve, autumn spice pear sauce, orange liqueur, jicama apple cumin kraut, and grapefruit jam with vanilla and poppy seed. Ever wanted to learn about fermented foods?
