A truly exciting event is set to take place this Friday, Sept. 28th at 6:30 p.m. at the Astor Hotel.
“Voices for VCFS: Artists Creating Awareness” is a fundraiser to benefit those suffering from Velo-Cardio-Facial-Syndrome known, in short, as VCFS. Those diagnosed with VCFS suffer from heart defects, effects on facial appearance, and a lack of or underdeveloped thymus and parathyroid glands, which is the result of the deletion of the 22nd chromosome. Please read more about VCFS here.
Tessa Koller, a local fashion designer, was diagnosed with the condition while attending MIAD for fashion design. Through her unwavering resilience, she has fought back against VCFS, not letting it tire her out or force her to give up on her dreams. Now a spokesperson for VCFS, Tessa is making her mark in the world to bring awareness to this little-known condition.
The event taking place at the Astor Hotel tonight will include a fashion show with clothing by Tessa herself, local designer Kia Xiong and Nadia Ivanova, who recently showcased her designs in this past New York Fashion Week.
There will be musical performances by season six “American Idol” top 10 female finalist Leslie Hunt, and season 10 finalist Montreal Cain, along with emerging artist Leana Christiana.
There will be a silent auction with proceeds going to VCFS, including certificates to upscale restaurants, hotels and more.
Tessa said she couldn’t have done it without help from her official sponsor, none other than the Milwaukee Brewers. It’s going to be a huge event for a wonderful cause. Please view the invite here.
